Air Conditioning Regas Liverpool

Air Conditioning Regas/Recharge

There are 2 types of air conditioning gas, R134A & R1234YF, generally cars manufactured from 2014 will require the newer more environmentally friendly R1234YF gas, cars manufactured prior to 2014 will normally use R134A gas here at One Stop Garage Liverpool we carry both in stock.

Signs that you may need an air con regas or service could include:

  • The air from the vents is not as cold as it used to be
  • The windscreen demisting process is slower than normal
  • An unexplained drop in fuel-efficiency
  • An odd smell.

Air conditioning is an essential feature in most modern vehicles. Getting an air con regas will remedy all of above issues and will ensure you are kept cool.

Not servicing or regassing your aircon system puts more strain on the engine and uses more fuel. If your air conditioning system has not been recharged in the past two years it will dramatically reduce the efficiency.

In our experience, it is advisable to take your car in for a check and possible regas at least once every two years. We will remove the old refrigerant and replace with new, and also clean or replace the system filters and any lubricants. Additionally, we will check the condition of all remaining air-conditioning components.

If you don’t regas the air-con system, it will gradually become less efficient, making the car uncomfortable in hot weather, and take longer to demist the windows in winter. Not regassing your air-con system will be bad for it in the long run, with pipes likely to crack and parts likely to seize up if it isn’t used.
